Your Guide to Baccarat

Baccarat  might sound complicated by its name but it is exactly the opposite. Baccarat was invented in Italy in the 1400s by a man named Felix Falguiere. He named the game "Baccarat", which means "zero" in Italian because every tenth and every face card had a value equal to zero. You do not have to be a casino gaming extraordinaire in order to understand or win this game. All you need is some tips and acquaint yourself with the rules of the game. In this article, we have explained everything that you need to know about Baccarat. Let's start!

There are 3 types of outcomes/bets in Baccarat: A Player's Bet; A Dealer's Bet and A Tie. The goal of the game is to bet on the winning side.

Once all the bets have been locked in, the dealer draws four cards. Two cards are dealt to the Player’s Hand and two others are dealt to the Banker’s Hand. If the Player’s Hand is anywhere from 0 to 5, then the dealer draws a third card for the Player’s Hand.

The value of this card is then used to determine whether the dealer should also draw another card for the Banker’s Hand. If, on the other hand, the Player’s Hand is 6 or 7; then no further cards are drawn for either hand. The rule of thumb is that no more than three cards can be drawn for either hand.

Remember,

  • Cards 2 to 9 are at face value
  • 10, Jack, Queen, and King have zero value
  • Ace is worth one

If the total value exceeds nine, the second digit of the sum counts as your number. For example, you have 8 and 9 (which has a total of 17), your hand counts as 7.

One tip that we can give you is that try not to place a bet on a Tie as there is a very low possibility of the player and banker getting the same cards. Also, avoid Card counting as it seldom works in the case of Baccarat.

Once you have understood the basic rules, you will see how fun and enjoyable it is!

Happy Gaming!
